Instructions for use
Marineseal 033 is an easy-to-handle, two-part rubber based, cold curing sealant suitable for many applications in the marine industry.
Surface Preparation
All surfaces should be dry, free from dust, bitumen and any other contaminants. Prime all surfaces with Primer 170 and allow to dry for at least 15 minutes before applying Marineseal 033. Once the surface has been primed, the Marineseal 033 must be applied within 4 hours and the surface must be free from dust, moisture and contamination.
The compatibility of Marineseal 033 with wood preservatives should be checked prior to application. In the case Marineseal 033 is to be applied to painted surfaces, ensure the paint is fully dry and sound prior to application.
Mixing
Equal quantities of Part A and Part B should be mixed until an even colour is obtained. Mixing is easily performed by kneading the two components on a board dusted with industrial talc, which should also be used to prevent the materials sticking to the hands.
Application
The mixed material should be applied before it starts to cure, i.e. while it is still plastic, which is normally within 4 hours of mixing, however curing can be accelerated in high ambient temperatures.
The material may be applied by hand.
Finishing
Excess material should be removed immediately after application using a sharp tool. Any smear residue of Marineseal 033 left on surfaces should be removed using a cloth moistened in hot water.
Marineseal 033 will retard the drying and cause discolouration of many decorative paints and is affected by some timber preservatives containing organic solvents applied after glazing.
